Playing in the snow

We went up to the snow twice this winter. Kendall and I went snow boarding one day and then went with the boys to the snow the next day. The first trip was really cold and snowy but we built a snow man and had a snow ball fight. The second trip was warmer and the sun was out so we played longer and had a good snowball fight and even brought back an ice cheast full of snow for a friend. Me and kendall got pretty good at snowboarding. Kendall slid across a rail and I went over a few hills. Man were we sore though. It was a lot of fun, I guess Im ok that Kendall made me go. We all looked fantastic after this trip!

Jonah

Jonah is getting big he army crawls all around and can push himself into sitting position. He has three teeth and his favorite thing is his walker. He has mastered it and tries to walk when you hold his hands because of it. He is extremely ticklish and is so cute when he laughs. If I lay on the floor with him he likes to climb on me and slobber on my face. He loves his big brother and loves playing with him!

We were watching General Confrence and once again it was nap time. But earlier we had explained that confrence is when the prophet talks to us and tells us what Jesus wants us to do.
Mom and Dad: "Carson come sit by us and take a nap or your getting in your bed"

Mom: "Come on honey lay on the couch or go up in your bed"
Carson: "But the prophet is telling me to stay awake"

Rocket Launch

The annual Rocket Launch was alot of fun Carson and Jonah both had their own rockets and had fun shooting them off. Carson was able to chase his own this year and that was fun to watch. One of Kendall's rockets landed in the fire hehe it was pretty funny. Carson also got to go on a Quad ride with Kendall he thought that was cool. When it got dark we had a fire and Great Grandpa Skabelund told his Mountain Man stories.

Christmas 2009

We moved to our new house a week before Christmas and have been keeping busy. On Christmas Eve we went to Great Grandma and Grandpa Skabelund's and the boys sat on Santa's lap. Carson was nervous at first but then thought it was the best. We were sitting on the floor next to Santa while all the other kids got to sit on his lap and he was trying to help them get presents and talking to Santa the whole time. Jonah's first experience sitting on Santa's lap was good he didn't cry but he was so tired that right after that he fell asleep. So he didn't get to open his present that night. Carson had fun trading name gifts and playing. Carson got a buzz light year toy from Santa which he liked, but he loved Danny's toy- a Thomas train. They kind of played together and kinda fought over it.

On Christmas morning we opened our presents here at our new house. When we came down stairs Carson saw the tree and that Santa came but he wanted Danny's train we told him we would go to Grandma's house later. Then he was happy Santa came and dug right into his stocking. Jonah was in his walker and we put his presents on his tray and he went to town opening them. The boys got a lot of fun toys. It was a lot of fun to experience Jonah's first Christmas and also the first Christmas Carson will probably remember.

Later we went to Grandma and Grandpa Bottomley's and exchanged gifts and played. Yes Carson played with all Danny's trains and they had a blast. He got one of his own from Uncle Erik and its his favorite. It was a great Christmas! It is fun to also teach Carson why we have Christmas. He learned abut baby Jesus and the Nativity story. Jonah ate the figurines.

Zoo trip

In October we went to the zoo with Aunt Dawn, Kristina and Ashley. The kids had tons of fun. Carson loved seeing all the animals and still talks about it like it was yesterday. Carson slept most of the time and looked cool in his hats. Carson was having fun with all the girls. Along with seeing all the animals the kids got to play at the splash pads, make a wish in the fountain, and pet goats

Carson and Jordynn were playing out back and Carson had a spray bottle next thing we knew Jordynn had eaten chalk and dirt and was soaked. Carson thought it was hilarious hehe so did Jordynn. CUTE KIDS!!

Jonah was tired and kept crying he really likes laying on his tummy so Kendall laid him on his legs and he passed out. Tired tired boy!

In the mornings Carson wakes up and if we are all sleeping still he will crawl under Jonah's cradle and fall back asleep. He thinks its funny but he really does sleep which is funny.

Halloween

For Halloween Carson was a DJ and Jonah was a Bat, they were so cute. At first Carson didn't want to wear his costumbut we told him he couldnt get candy unless he did. He hit the jack pot in our neighborhood every one thought his costume was so cute they gave him extra candy. For months after he would say he wanted to go trick or treating and he would say what he wanted to be for halloween. It is so fun to see him actually understand whats going on. Jonah was a cute little bat and enjoyed going around in the stroller. And hey when he can't eat his candy mmmmmmm more for me :) .

Jonah's blessing was a fun day. He looked so cute in the outfit Aunt Elsa made. She did a great job and the little whales are so cute on it, perfect for our little Jonah. Luckly he didn't cry during the blessing but when we wanted pictures outside he was tired and cold. Carson got really tired to and was cranky notice both boys screaming in the group pic. hehe it was great! :) . We had a pretty big group there. Thanks to all who came and made it special for us.

This was our day yesterday...

We woke up to some great weather so we had the windows open. Got the boys dressed. 2 seconds after putting Jonah in a really cute outfit on he exploded in it so I changed him again.

Then we ate breakfast and Jonah wanted Carson to share his crackers. "Ahhhhhh me too me too" he says.

Carson was actually willing to take some pictures so he wanted to give his brother a hug and kiss. I told Carson your such a good big brother he said "I know I am, and Jonah is a good little brother."

Then we went to the park. It felt great outside! We ran around and played baesball.

Jonah was very smiley so I got a bunch of pics. And then both boys took a bath.

Then we all took a nap. Carson was pretending at first but I knew he was tired!

When we all woke up I did laundry and the boys played. Jonah was very awake and aware so I layed him under some toys. I rolled him to his tummy and he totall rolled over! I kept making him do it, he did it 4 times! He is not even 6 weeks old; man he is strong. So the first things Jonah ever learned to do was smile (which was like Monday) and then rolling over! Well I guess he holds his head up too but ya. Not a totally eventful day but I got some cute pictures and it was a good day. Its so nice to have cool weather to put us in a good mood.

Carson needed some real Mom and Carson time so we made cookies. He really likes using the cookie cuttters to make shapes. I got out my food coloring and let him paint them it was a little easier than making frosting and it was alot of fun. Carson is a great artist! Too bad we cant hang them on the fridge; they wouldn't stay and he kinda ate them already! Carson says " mmmm cookies. I color them and I eat them so fast! I eat Mickey Mouse and Lighting Mqueen and stars and circles!"

4th of July trip

This year we didn't go to Hawley Lake or to Show Low so we decided to take a road trip. See what happens when we ended up with no plans on a 3 day weekend! We left on Friday at noon and drove up to Sedona. We stopped at the UFO site that was funny.

Then we wen to Slide Rock the water was freezing but we all jumped in and went down the slides. First I went down with Carson which may not have been the best idea. He had no idea what was going on and I didn't realize how deep some of the spots were. When we got to the bottom Carson was happy he did it but he wanted his towel because he was cold. Pay no mind to the guy mooning the camera we really didn't mean to get him in the shot and I don't think he even knew hehe. I guess that's what happens if you go down too many times. Kendall went down and then I went again by myself.

Kendall jumped off a big rock I would have too if my belly wasn't so big. Me and Carson jumped in off the side. Carson didn't like the cold water but thought it was fun to watch dad and mom jump in. We walked up the way a little bit and found some cool things. This HUGE rock! This cute little house Carson really liked.

We drove up the highway and found a spot to camp between Sedona and Flagstaff. There were a ton of campers but that is to be expected on July 4Th. We cooked dinner and made s'mores then Carson conked out and me and Kendall relaxed for a bit then went to bed. On Saturday morning we made a quick breakfast and Carson played while we packed up camp.

Then we took a drive and got out to play at a few places. There was this cool cave on the side of the road it was cool but kinda hard to climb up with a pregnant belly. We got some cute pics though.

We stopped for lunch at Denny's so we could have the traditional strawberry waffles and ice cream for the 4Th. Then we decided since it was Carson's nap time we would take the leisurely 4 hour drive up to the 4 corners and Monument Valley. Carson slept about half the time and actually did really well sitting in the car we played and danced to music and had a good time.

When we were done with all our cool ideas we headed to Monument Valley that was only another hour drive and we got there just in time for sun set and some amazing pictures. Because the whole drive between Flagstaff and Monument Valley is reservation there was no where to camp or even stop to sleep in the car. We could have stayed in a hotel but that would have left a 8 hour drive for the morning and there would be a lot of traffic from the holiday. So we decided to be crazy, Kendall and I switched off driving. We got home and 2 in the morning. It was a lot of fun and everything was spontaneous. We probably wont be able to do that once our next little one is here so it was a last crazy trip. Tons of fun!!!

Carson was thrilled to have his own Happy Birthday! He got kind shy when everyone was singing to him so he wouldn't blow out his candle. He loved opening presents by then he knew just what to do. when he saw Lightening McQueen it was all over he was so happy and hasn't stopped playing with them since. Man he is getting so big but darn cute isn't he!

We went to Roosevelt Lake and had a blast on Kirt and Sheri's boat. Kendall, Carson and I went in the tube and trailed really slow. It was cool and Carson really liked it. We ended up hitting the wake and sinking the raft it was fun tho and the water felt so good. Carson liked swimming in the lake and had fun pushing the water away and kicking his feet.

Carson's Birthday!

Carson was well aware of what a birthday was since a lot of his aunts and uncles and mom and dad had one. But when he realized it was his and every one said happy birthday to him he was so happy! He got a few cards in the mail and he would carry them from the mail box home saying "thank you, thank you, thank you!" he couldn't wait for his choo choo train party and to eat cake! He was so cute! On his birthday he got a baseball tee which he loved! We made the mistake of giving it to him right before bed and he would not go to bed! He got really good really fast!

He was so happy when it was finally time for his party he opened the door for his guests and did a great job entertaining them! His cake turned out so cute and after he blew out his candles he said "again, again". I think that may have been his favorite part but then he got presents and definitely loved that. He was such a nice boy and as his guests left he gave them hugs and said "thank you for coming". I asked him if he liked his party and he said "all those guys here!" "Tasted cookies too" meaning the wheels on the cake. He had so much fun and still talks about it all the time.

Grand Canyon Trip

On Friday the 10th Kendall didn't have to work so we decided to go to the Grand Canyon. It was quite ambitious to take this trip in one day. Especially since the family Easter thing was the next day. But we had a lot of fun! Carson slept pretty much the whole way to Flag Staff and we went up Route 66 and stopped for lunch. Kendall remembered this cow painted on the wall so we had to stop and take some funny pics one is of us saying MOO! the other is the boys being funny. When we got to the Grand Canyon we taught Carson to say "big hole" and he would say "mountain". It was beautiful and Kendall got some really cool pics. We wanted to get some cool sunset pics but it was cloudy. We stayed until it got dark. Then decided to drive all night to get home. It was snowing for most of the trip which was cool but since the roads weren't plowed we couldn't drive more than 15 mph. We tried to get a pic of the snow flying at us but it didn't work. It looked like star wars. We got home at 2 am but it was worth it we had a ton of fun!

Holy Cow! Sunday I was changing Carson's diaper and he said "pee pee on potty" so I asked him if he wanted to sit on the potty. He sat for a minute and was laughing but didn't do anything. Later I asked if he wanted to sit on it again so he did again but didn't go. It was almost time for bed so I read him so books and when I was changing him I told him to try again he sat there for a minute and then he totally went!!! He thought it was cool! We jumped up and down and clapped for him and made a big deal. I asked if he liked to do that and he said"fun"! I don't know if it was just a fluke or if he'll keep it up well see.

We went on a bike ride to jamba juice and then to the park. It was a lot of fun to spend all that time together and just play. Carson loves the park and had a blast!

The Boys had alot of fun at Danny's Birthday party. The pinata had strings that they pulled on until it opened and I never saw candy go so slow. They were definately happy to see candy but weren't quite sure what to do. They really had a blast with the bubbles! Kendall turned 26!!! In the morning i took a pregnancy test. I didn't look at it I let him read it first and it was positive so happy birthday daddy of almost two! We went to Texas Road House with some friends. I think he had a good day!

On New Years eve we went to Kendall's Grandmas and popped poppers and had sparklers when the new year hit. KISS KISS!

We went home and got a little bit of sleep then went and launched rockets. It was a lot of fun this year Carson just loved chasing them and watching them fly. Kendall built this really cool rocket and it flew great.

Carson had fun playing in the dirt and riding the quad. Danny Had fun on Carson's bike. It was cool when Carson pushed the button to launch the rockets because he would laugh and then run after it while looking up so he didn't know where he was going.

Spontaneous trip to the snow

On Dec 27th we woke up and decided to take Carson up to play in the snow. It was a fun spontaneous thing to do. We left after lunch so Carson could sleep the whole way up. There was so much snow and it was absoultely freezing! It was fun and Kendall got some really cool pictures. We tried to build a snow man but the snow was too dry. We grabbed some clumps and piled them up so Carson could see a snowman.

Christmas was alot of fun this year. Carson knew how to open his own presents and was excited to see what was inside. He was so happy to have a "nana"(banana), "ange" (orange), and "apple" in his stocking.

He really enjoyed his toys and was happy to help mom and dad open theirs too. When he thought he was all done he started to play with his old toys then wa suprised him with a bike! He was so happy he saw the bike in the store and wouldn't get off it is so fun to see him so happy.

Christmas eve we went to Kendall's grandma's house and had a great time. We had an awesome dinner then it was time for Santa! All the kids get to sit on Santa's lap and they get a present from him. Carson was all about the gift but didn't want anything to do with sitting on his lap. Carson learned who Santa was a few weeks earlier and learned he says "ho, ho, ho!" He was just fine looking at him but he didn't want to let me go.
We waited until everyone got their gift from Santa and then they all opened it at once. Carson opened one end and saw there was something inside. He thought it was so cool to just look inside! He was laughing and pointing then he finally realized he could take it out. He got some good practice opening presents so he was prepared for Christmas morning.

Last Monday we got together with family and frosted sugar cookies. The night before Carson helped make the cookies. He really enjoyed making his "boy" and "'tar" (star) cookies and. He definitely made it messier than it had to be but it was fun.

Carson liked decorating the cookies and putting sprinkles on them but his favorite was eating them. I had to stop him after a few then he didn't want to decorate them unless he could eat them. It was still fun and it was cool to see Santa decorate cookies too!

Suns game

On Friday we got some tickets to the Suns game from Kendall's boss. It was Carson's first game and he loved it!!! He would get so excited when Kendall would yell. Carson learned to say "Come on!" and he would cheer and clap. It was a really intense game but we won! :) After the game we took Carson down to the court and he was allowed to shoot the ball, he was thrilled. That kid sure loves basketball!

Temple lights

On Sunday we went to the temple to see Kendall's parents sing with their choir. They sounded great! We walked around the temple and Carson got to see Jesus! He thought that was really cool but he didn't really want to get too close because the statue was so big. It was fun to see the lights with Carson and the Nativities from around the world were really pretty too. There was a picture inside the visitor center of Christ on the cross Carson saw it and said "owie" then blew Him a kiss. It was so sweet. It was great to feel the spirit and have the chance to walk around the temple.

For Thanks giving we went to Kendall's Grandparents house with all his family. Everyone brought great food so we filled up. Then while we vegged we looked at black friday ads and hung out and had a lot of fun. I made a cake to celebrate the November birthdays. This is totally it! You don't believe me? David Fallon got home from his mission so we went to see him. It was cool to see him again, he hasn't changed a bit! We had fun talking, playing games and eating cake.

It is always fun getting with old friends. On the 24th we we had a bunch of friends over because Kendall's buddy Chad Fish and his family were down from Idaho. There were a bunch of people we hadn't seen for a while. Mostly people Kendall knew from high school but a few other people too. It was cool to find out what every one is up to and to see their families now.

Alicia's surgery

Alicia had surgery on her elbow on November 3rd. It all went well. They put two perminante screws in. Here are some awesome pics. First Alicia hopped up on goof balls, next the damage after surgery and the last two are most recient x-rays with the screws in.

Well this Halloween ended up taking a little bit of a different turn for us than we originally thought it would be. We had been planning a party all year and had done a lot of stuff to get ready for it. Unfortunately because of Alicia's elbow break we had to postpone it by a year! We still had a lot of fun though and Carson was the cutest little "Mummy' you've ever seen!

This was the first time Carson had gone trick or treating and it took him a few doors to get used to it. But once he started to realize that all he had to do was run up and knock on a door and someone would give him candy we couldn't slow him down!

Well this last weekend before Halloween sure turned up a trick but no treats! We have been planning a big party for Halloween since last year and we had a whole bunch of things planned to make the decorations and food awesome!
Well Alicia was outside by the front door hanging up some spider webs while standing on a chair. Carson was playing around while she was doing this and everything was fine...until she started to get down. One leg of the chair slipped of the pathway and she fell...hard...albiet not far. She called me from her cell phone while still lying on the ground saying she though she had broken her arm. Pretty much within 10 seconds of her saying that I was on my home from work in record time.
When I got home you could tell that she was in pain though she was trying real hard not to show it in front of Carson. Her arm had swollen up a little but there was no visible bruising or scrapes. We took her to the emergency room at the Gilbert Hospital around the corner. I have never seen an emergency room move that fast! Before we had even taken a seat in the waiting room they called her back and got her a room and an X-Ray within five minutes. Carson was needing a nap really bad but he was thrilled at being in a new place with all kinds of things for him to play with!
At that point her arm had gotten numb and we were both doubtful that she had actually broken it but had probably gotten a deep bruise or sprain. Then the doctor came back with the verdict...broken elbow!! We were both pretty shocked and then the reality of it hit Alicia and she became very upset. The doctor even said that it would most likely require surgery and possibly a couple screws to fix it too! I don't know what made her the most upset; the fact that she busted her arm and would need surgery or the fact that she wouldn't be able to take care of her baby on her own for the next couple months.
I was doing my best to console her but unfortunately, since it happened on a Friday afternoon, both her doctor and the orthopedic surgeon's offices are closed until Monday! That meant that she would have to go the whole weekend with the bone out of place and a very uncomfortable and delicate splint on her arm from her armpit to her fingers. So for now we are just holding out until Monday and we'll have some updates but until then keep her in your prayers!

Before we went to the zoo we had to set up for the gig Kendall had that night so we didn't have to rush back. Carson was running around and because it was a nice day the doors at the venue were open. I was helping Kendall for a sec I turned around and Carson was gone. He was outside across the side street sitting on the curb. He thought it was great. It was only a couple seconds and he was out there again luckily it is just a side street and there were no cars but that stinker

is sneaky. After we were done we were able to let Carson run around and enjoy the beautiful weather. It was a long day but we went with kendall to the gig. When Carson got tired I put him in the car and drove around for a bet and he fell asleep. I parked and fell asleep too lucky me. When kendall was done I went in and helped him take down. FUN DAY! :)

Party at the Zoo

This weekend we went to a birthday party for the boy I babysit. Michael and Carson have become buddies and they had a ton of fun!

Carson knows a lot of animals now so it was fun for him to see the real thing and say the sounds they make. Before the party started we showed Carson the elephants he liked that because we were able to get really close.

The party started with a train ride where Carson was able to see a tiger and lion "rrrrroar", the rhinos, giant tortoises, and monkeys "ooo ooo ooo". Next we went on the carousel and Carson really didn't like that he cried the whole time. All the kids got to color a mask. Carson had fun chasing the peacock he got a kick out of that! We had cake and ice cream and then the party ended. It was a new experence for me and Kendall, to take our kid to a birthday party for his friend.

HAT

This is a hat Kendall got in Brazil. Carson loves it! He walks around all cool and says "hat hat hat" he'll take it off and put it on over and over he is so cute. Here he has the nice overalls and the rocking chair to complete his look! Adorable!

Playing at the park

We went to the park this morning. It was pretty warm on the equipment but Carson had fun in the shade. He really enjoyed playing in the dirt and dumping it on himself. When it was time to come home he was pretty upset but was happy again when he had a popsicle and juice. I cant wait until it is cool enought to be out there longer he will love it.

Camping In September

We finally got to go camping this year and it was a lot of fun! We went with Carl and Jerah and there little girl Abby, and Justin, and Kassi. We got up there right at sun down and set up our tent and stuff. Carson was glad to get out of the car but had a hard time because he didn't know where he was. He also wasn't to sure of the tent. He had fun playing with the marshmallow stick. It was kinda scary when he would wave around a flaming hot marshmallow on a burning hot stick, but he thought it was pretty funny. When he got tired he fell asleep in my arms and then I laid him in the tent. We all went to bed at like 10 and were woken up by the dumb campers next to us who were playing their wii until like 3 am! Carson also woke up and was freaking out he didn't like being in the tent so we went by the fire it took a while to calm him down but he finally fell asleep. I tried laying him back down but he would have woken up. I had to lay down awkwardly with him and I fell asleep in a weird position and woke up freezing. So ya that night was kinda rough but we had a lot of fun the next day. Carson liked wandering around and playing in the dirt.

Once he warmed up to the surroundings he was able to be on his regular schedule. He started to like the tent and even took a nice nap with me in the bed. It was nice to relax and hang out. We got lazy on Saturday and didn't want to make dinner so we ordered pizza and the boys drove to Heber to pick it up. Kendall was able to get some cool shots of the stars.

We left on Sunday morning and we were able to take a nice drive up the rim. We actually took the same road that we went up when we took Carson up to play in the snow. It was beautiful up there and relaxing to get out of town!

Dumb wasp!

This last Friday I had a big wedding that I was DJing at the Pera Club in Tempe. We had taken Carson to my parent's house for the evening so that Alicia and I wouldn't have to be chasing him all night. The ceremony was outside and we were setting up. Alicia was standing under a tree all of a sudden something hit her in the neck. We found out it was a wasp and there was a huge nest right above her head! Luckly she isn't allergic because a sting it the neck could be pretty bad. She held ice on it for a while and by the end of the night you couldn't even see it.

Carson was all ready for bed so we were about to sat prayer and he found the camara. He grabbed it and gave it to Kendall then sat on the floor and started to smile really big. He wanted his picture taken. He is so cute! Then we taught him to kneel down and he did it it was so cute! He folded his arms and even closed his eyes. But of course when we were saying the prayer he got up.

The Death of Fazoli's - R.I.P. 9/8/08

Well some of you may have heard the rumors and now it is confirmed. Fazoli's is closing it's doors for good. For those of you who are like me who thoroughly relish those moments with warm, fresh, butter drippin', garlic-infused, artery clogging breadsticks this is a truly sad day. Fazoli's was actually my first job and after all these years I still couldn't get enough of it! Make sure to act fast if you'd like to say goodbye by Monday September 8th or it'll be too late!

Bartlett Lake

Well this Labor Day weekend we got the chance to go with my aunt and uncle to Bartlett Lake for a fun day on their boat. This was going to be Carsons first time on a boat so we made sure he slept the entire way up there so he would be in a good mood.

He absolutely enjoyed himself the entire time and was just taking it all in on the boat ride. He also enjoyed seeing mommy and daddy out on the tube behind the boat making big splashes when we fell in!

Monsoon Over the Valley

Well anyone who lives here in the Phoenix Metro area couldn't have missed the nice big monsoon storm we had early in the night. Alicia had been gone for a couple hours during the evening for a Ward thing and I was left alone with Carson for a couple hours. Not a big deal I thought, until he worked himself up so much that Mommy had left that I just had to distract him somehow. So I decided to take him to the tiny park by our house for a little bit to let him get some energy out. As we were there playing and getting eaten alive by the mosquitos, we saw a ton of lightning starting to pop up to the south of us and a big, ominous thundercloud moving in. It seemed like it was coming our way and me, being the wanna-be photographer, decided it might be a fun opportunity to try to catch some cool shots of lightning. I put him in the stroller and we walked around the corner by the empty corn fields to get a clear view. These are a couple of the shots I came up with.

I was pretty happy with some of the cool shots I was getting and Carson was just sitting contently watching the flashes of light. Well being so distracted everything going on I neglected to realize that those very same clouds I was taking pictures of had quite nicely begun to place themselves directly over us. And us, obviously being the tallest thing around in the middle of an empty field had become pretty easy targets. All this began to sink in when the clouds opened up and instantly began a downpour. Well since I, being the genius, hadn't prepared myself with an umbrella for the camera and my son I had to throw everything in the basket under the stroller and take off like a madman running the quarter mile back to my house in the pouring rain. Of course Carson thought it was hysterical but I was slightly less amused in the heat of the moment. :) We got home and he and I enjoyed watching Cars again and I even managed to get in a few more cool shots from the front porch!

Gramma's Birthday party

On Saturday night we went to Kendall's Gramma's for her birthday party. We got Brianna to watch Carson and went to party. It was relaxing to get a sitter for once. I made a cake for her party it was pretty cool. We actually fit 65 sparkler candles on it! It was kinda scary when they would spark. luckily it didn't catch fire. :) It took a while for her to actually blow it out but she did it! All her kids and some other family were prepared to tell all kinds of stories about Gramma when they were growing up and stuff. It was cool to hear all these things about her and it turned out really well.

Playing in the hose

On Saturday we were cleaning up the garage and working on our cars. I have a spray bottle I spray Carson with so he can stay cool outside. He figured out how to squirt it and sat there and sprayed himself. He realized that it was hitting his chin and if he opened his mouth he could drink it. He was so wet! Then Carson found the hose since it was so hot I turned it on a little bit and let him play with it. He had so much fun! He was completely soaked then he started to spray Kendall and me. He had so much fun, and we did too. It was fun do do something spontaneous together like that. Its fun to see Carson explore and learn new things! It definitely made for some great pictures.

Organ Stop

Yesterday we got together with some friends and went to Organ Stop. Carson absolutely loved it! at first he was a little scared because it was loud but when the organ raised up and the heard the music he was happy. He kept clapping and tapping his leg to the beat. He loved it so much he could hardly eat his pizza. There were some dancing cat puppets and he liked that too. He was really happy he was singing along to some of it and was dancing. It was fun to get together with friends.

Chicken Pox

Carson had the chicken pox this week. We first noticed some bumps on the back of his neck and I thought it was a heat rash. He had a fever one day and i thought it was just from teething. Then we saw them on his arms and legs. I didn't think it was the chicken pox because he had the vaccine. But it turns out it was it was just a mild breakout though. He was a little cranky but not too bad. They healed pretty quickly. Here is a pic of him you can't really see the bumps because there weren't very many.

Dinner at Erik and Erin's

On Sunday we went to dinner at Erik and Erin's house. Erin made some great food as always and yummy dessert! Carson and Danny had a blast playing together.

They ganged up on the cats and were chasing them all night. Whenever they got near one of the cats it would run and they would crack up. Their laughs are so cute! Carson couldn't get enough of this. Ocasionally he would actually pet the cat then would fall down in laughter. Looks like we might have to get a cat if it keeps him busy for that long.

When it got late both boys got changed into their pjs and sat down and read some books. Man they are so cute! We love those boys!

Daddy's gigs

Kendall had two gigs this weekend. Carson and I went to help with the set up and take down. Carson has been to a lot of gigs and has gotten pretty good at dancing. He always love the food especially the grapes! One of the gigs was at the Wright House and there are a lot of fountains there. He thought it was really cool to play in them. When he got really tired I tried walking around with him to get him to sleep but every time he heard the water he wanted to get down and play. Kendall did a really good job at these gigs and it was fun to be there with him.

Recap of 2008

Since I just started my blog I thought I would do a quick recap of 2008.
Starting in January we went snow boarding for Kendall's Birthday. He got all his gear for Christmas and he really wanted to go. I had never been so it was kinda freaky but I finally agreed. We went with our friends Lynne and James Adams. I went down the mountain 3 times, fell a million times but only blacked out once. It was extremely hard, you really have to be in shape. Kendall was able to go to the higher mountain with James once so he didn't have to go slow the whole time. We had so much fun maybe I'll do it again some day we'll see.
Later in January we got a trailer for our tandem bike and started taking rides on Saturday mornings up to Jamba Juice. This time we went there and on the way back our tire popped about a half mile away from our house so we had to call James to rescue us. He took Kendall back home to get our truck so we could fit the bike in. Me and Carson played in the grass while we waited.

In February we celebrated Carson's cousin's birthday. Danny turned 1 and we had fun at his party. We also went up to Show Low for Kendall's cousin Kari's birthday party. Kendall was the DJ it was really hoppin'. Carson got really tired so we put Kendall's head phones on him and he was actually able to sleep hehe. On our way home we stopped to play in the snow. Carson actually really liked it. It was fun! we had a snow fight, made snow angles and made a snowman.

In March we helped Kendall's parents with the landscaping in their front yard. We rented a bobcat and a tiller and grated up the dirt. We chopped out a bunch of bushes and a couple trees. Kendall was driving the bobcat all day and he took Carson for a little ride.
Carson really enjoyed the tractor and playing int the dirt. He loves being outside and since he learned how to walk he can get into the dirt all by himself. He got so dirty we had to give him a bath in Grandma's sink.

Easter fell in March this year. The day before we had a ward Easter party at the park and that afternoon we had our family Easter dinner. Carson got to do his first Easter egg hunt with all his cousins. We had a big dinner and hung out. On Easter morning we woke up and went to church. After Carson took a nap we let Carson have his Easter basket. He got excited when he saw it and he walked over to it. He had been walking along the edge of the couch and started to get brave enough to let go. He saw his big duck and the candy in his basket and didn't even care about holding on anymore. He has learned so much, man it is crazy to think about it.

In April we had a baby shower for Aunt Kristi. I planned it and did all the food. Carson got to go and see Grammy Tammy. Carson really enjoyed playing outside he would go out front and play in the rocks or take me down to the park. Toward the end of April Kendall DJd Show Low High School's prom so we went back up there again. Braxton came up with us so he could help Kendall. It was pretty cold up there and very windy. Me and Carson helped set the DJ stuff up and then went back to Aunt Shari's. (She lives up there and that's where we stay when we go. She is so nice to let us stay and she always cooks for us.) Kendall had a lot of fun djing that gig and I got to stay back and watch movies. We had a lot of laughs while we were hanging out with Shari, Kari, Amanda and Kurt.

May came way too fast. Carson had his first birthday. But before that on May 8Th Carson went on his first fathers and sons camp out. He and Kendall went with Grandpa, Uncle Elijah, and Uncle Erik.

It was Carson's first night away from me but he was very good for daddy.

May 14th was Carson's First birthday. We had a party for him on the 17th at the park in our neighborhood. All our family was there. We had a slip-n-slide and Grandma Bottomley set up her big inflatable water slide. I made a cute airplane cake and we had a pinata. Carson had a great day! He loved all the presents and playing at the park. It was really fun to throw him a party.

In June we had a few random storms and it was cooler for a lot longer than normal. It was nice to get to have a few more days outside. When it was raining we let Carson go out for a minute. One of the times Kendall was coming home from work and Carson ran to the door. And then he went outside he really liked the rain he is so cute.

Carson is learning to talk it is so crazy! He did finally learn how to say "ma ma" and now he will try to say what ever you tell him to. Friday he was looking at some pictures pointed and said "Grandma". He also says tractor, car, flower, ball and bubble. It is so cute to see him grow. People say as soon as he starts talking I'll wish he'd shut up but its cute right now and we'll work on the other thing another time.

Huntington Beach

Day 2 of our vacation: We had stayed at my grandma's house in Huntington Beach. She made us breakfast and we went to a carnival her ward had. We hung out there for a little bit while Carson slept and then we went to the beach!

The beach was a lot of fun, but Carson was a little scared at first. With the loud rushing waves and so many people we had to take it slow for him; which made it relaxing for us too. We introduced Carson to the sand he definitely loved that! We showed him how to fill up his pail and then flip it over to make a sand castle. He had fun knocking it down and building a new one.

Kendall and I took turns going in the water and watching Carson.

Then Kendall took Carson out. It was really cold and he didn't really like the waves coming towards him but when we let him explore it himself he loved it.The thing he loved the most was being buried in the sand! Kendall dug a hole and right when Carson sat in it he grined ear to ear. When we started to fill it up he started to laugh and knock dirt in too.

After rinsing all the sand off and warming Carson up he took a nap. Then Kendall and I went rollerblading down the beach. We were both already sore from walking around Disneyland but it was still fun. We went quite a ways, at least a mile. WOW! What a work out! It had been overcast all day and; finally, as the sun was going down it came out from behind the clouds so we went back by the water and hung out. Carson woke up and played in the sand again; constantly scooping up sand and tossing it to the side. Carson also enjoyed chasing the sea gulls saying "du du du" meaning duck. Then it was so cool se saw dolphins! They were oly about 100 yards off shore it was amazing!(There are dolphins in that picture.)

It was so great to take a vacation like this. We were blessed to be able to do it. It is so exciting to experience some of Carson's firsts. A lot of his firsts are firsts for our family too.

Disneyland

Day 1 of our vacation: This was Carson's first trip to Disneyland! And the first time Kendall and I had been since our honeymoon, it brought back some fun memories.
Carson's favorite ride was the mari-go-round he really liked the horses and he pointed to things as we passed by. His least favorite ride was Pirates of Caribbean which he screamed and held on to me as tight as he could. It was heartbreaking to see him like that; although, he calmed down when Daddy held him. When he saw pictures of characters or saw them on the tv he liked them, but seeing the real characters move and talk kind of scared him. It was a lot for him to take in but he had fun.
He enjoyed the huge, spinning ball in Tomorrowland he splashed in the water and had fun.
Kendall and I got to ride on Segways. It was pretty cool. It is fairly easy when you have someone helping you, but it is so sensitive to movement that I would probably get out of control pretty quickly without to guide there. I know Kendall thought that was really cool he picked it up really fast because that is his sort of thing.

In Toontown carson had fun playing in Mickey's house and in the cars. He was so cute when he posed in the little jail, and pet store, and when he tried to lift the weights. He went down the slide at Goofy's house and played with the leaky hose. But man he got tired, he fell asleep in like 2 seconds and took a 2 hour nap.
The jungle cruise was fun. Carson really likes animals so he points to the ones he knows and tried to say the name like elephant, giraffe and zebra.
We had a really fun day and when it started to get dark we went and saw the Fantsmic show; Carson fell asleep in the middle of it and slept the rest of the time. Kendall and I were able to do a few things we wanted to. We went on the Finding Nemo ride which I wish Carson was awake for because he would have liked it. But of course He woke up just in time to pick a toy from the store. Then they closed so we had to leave. We had been awake for 20 hours so we were ok with that.
It was so fun to see Carson enjoy so much fun stuff and spend time as a family. It is great to have a family to build memories with.
